Florence DuPont Employees' Federal Credit Union was organized by the employees of the Florence DuPont plant and chartered on May 3, 1976. Membership at that time was limited to Florence plant employees, retirees from the Florence plant, their parents, grandparents, children and grandchildren. In 1993 the field of membership was expanded to include the spouse of any member and in 2003 was expanded to include siblings of any member.
